– Hojatollah Dehdashti, Mayor of Ahvaz, announced that a delegation of provincial officials recently visited the Traffic Management Control Center.
During the visit, a comprehensive report was presented regarding video traffic monitoring and vehicle flow patterns, particularly in light of the start of the new academic year.
Expressing his gratitude for the Governorate's efforts in traffic reduction, Mayor Dehdashti stated: "In alignment with the commencement of the school year, Ahvaz Municipality has mobilized its full capacity to manage transportation and traffic issues."
The Mayor emphasized the importance of infrastructure development to enhance the traffic management system.
He specifically called for increased cooperation from the provincial telecommunications authority regarding fiber optic expansion and capacity building, which is essential for installing more traffic cameras across the city, especially in high-traffic corridors.
Furthermore, Mayor Dehdashti highlighted the significance of the municipality's financial contribution and resource allocation, noting that the Khuzestan Governorate could play a supportive role in facilitating these efforts.
Seyyed Mehran Alam-ol-Hodaie, Deputy of Urban Affairs at the Governorate, praised the municipality's efforts in traffic control.
He noted: "Due to the effective coordination between the municipality and the Traffic Police, we have observed smoother vehicle flow at the beginning of this academic year." He added that video monitoring is a high priority as emphasized by the Traffic Police, and existing challenges must be addressed promptly.
Alam-ol-Hodaie also requested a review of traffic light timings in certain sectors and acknowledged that recent actions to resolve previous bottlenecks and alleviate traffic congestion have shown positive results.
Siavash Mahmoudi, Chairman of the Transport and Traffic Commission of the Islamic City Council, concluded by stating: "Through inter-sectoral synergy, we can take significant strides toward reducing traffic and resolving urban congestion." ---
